COLUMBUS, Ohio – January 11, 2008 – The rapid growth of State Auto Insurance Companies’ middle market division has led to the appointment of David J. Hosler to oversee a seven-state zone based in Columbus.
Hosler, zone vice president of the State Auto Middle Market Insurance (SAMMI) Central Zone office, joins State Auto with nearly 20 years of insurance industry experience. He began his career as an underwriter with the Great American Insurance Group before becoming branch manager of AIG in Michigan. Most recently, Hosler served as director of branch operations for the ten offices of USG Insurance Services, residing in Beverly Hills, Mich.
“Dave knows this region and this industry extremely well. We’re fortunate to have him joining our team as we continue to aggressively expand,” said SAMMI Division Vice President Larry Williams. “His focus on our home region will allow SAMMI leadership to concentrate on the overall growth of our business nationwide.”
Hosler, 46, earned an undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University and an MBA from Miami University. He also holds both the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designations.
State Auto Middle Market Insurance (SAMMI) was created in early 2004 in response to agent requests to expand the size and scope of its commercial lines business to include larger commercial risks, usually with at least $100,000 in annual premium. Since that time, SAMMI, headquartered in Columbus, has grown exponentially, necessitating the creation of zone offices in Naperville (Chicago), Ill., Peoria (Phoenix), Ariz., Hunt Valley (Baltimore), Md., and Austin, Texas.
