COLUMBUS, Ohio – June 13, 2008 – Columbus-based State Automobile Mutual Insurance Company today announced that it will build a 22,000-square-foot high-tech data center in Delaware County’s Park at Greif, a corporate office park on the west side of Route 23 south of Winter Road.
State Auto intends to invest approximately $18.4 million in the data center and will bring at least 10 employees with an estimated initial annual payroll of $450,000 to this new southern Delaware County facility. State Auto will begin construction this fall, with completion by July 2010.
“State Auto is committed to maintaining the trust policyholders have placed in us for nearly 90 years,” said State Auto Chairman and CEO Bob Restrepo. “Today, that requires secure data storage and accountability for that data. The site we’ve selected, and the facility we plan to build, will accomplish those objectives.”
“We are very pleased that State Auto chose to make this significant investment in Delaware County,” said Kris Jordan, chairman of the Delaware County Commissioners. “Delaware County’s superior location, infrastructure and workforce combine to make these kinds of high-tech investments a great and reliable business decision.”
“The Park at Greif is an ideal location for this kind of high-tech data center, as is Delaware County, which offers a robust power and data infrastructure and solid workforce,” added Restrepo. “State Auto greatly appreciates the leadership provided by the Delaware County commissioners and staff, County Auditor Todd Hanks, Liberty Township trustees and staff, the Olentangy Local School District, and Delaware Area Career Center as they worked together to attract this significant investment. State Auto looks forward to becoming an active partner in the Delaware County business community.”
